Shevayachi Kheer ( Vermicelli Kheer)

Shevayachi Kheer is a very simple sweet dish made on festivals. It is prepared by almost all the communities in India . Muslims call it sheer khorma. Parsis call it Sev . North Indians call it Sevaiyyan , but the basic taste is same . This kheer harly takes any time to make and tasted delicious both hot  or cold.

In this khee instead of using full cream milk I have used milk powder to thicken it which makes it healthier without comprosing on the taste. Actually I find this version tastier than the one made using cream.

Ingredients :

1 Cup................Vermicelli ( I used Bambino brand)
1/2 cup ..............sugar
1 tbsp.................ghee
1/2 cup ..............water
1 1/2 cup.............milk
2 to 3 tbsp...............milk powder
1 tbsp..................blanched almond slivers
1tbsp...................raisins
1 tsp...................cardamom powder
4 to5 strands...........saffron

Method :

Heat ghee in a thick bottom vessel.
Add vermicelli and stir till light golden.
Add water and let it cook for 2 minutes.
Add milk sugar and give one boil.
Add milk powder and let the kheer thicken.
Add almonds, raisins, saffron and cardamom and remove from gas.
Serve hot or cold as per your wish.
