Coconut Burfee / Olya Naralachi Vadi


Olya Naralachi Vadi or Fresh coconut barfi is a very famous sweet of Kokan region in Maharashtra.

It is very simple to prepare and all you need is grated coconut, jaggery and cardamom powder .
I have also used some milk powder to enhance the taste . But this is totally optional .
Jaggery makes the vadi very soft , juicy and chewy.

Patolya / Patole / Patoli

 

Patolya / Patole / Patoli is a very delicious konkani sweet recipe prepared stuffing coconut and jaggery mixture inside a turmeric leaf coated with rice flour batter.

This sweet is usually made during rainy season when fresh Haldi paan ( Turmeric leaves) are available .

Haldi leaves give these pancakes a really lovely flavour and the aroma is simply irresistible.

You can steam them in banana leaf too if haldi leaf is not available.

These steamed sweet pancakes tastes best when consumed hot with ghee.
